Megara was the eldest daughter of Creon, king of Thebes. During a battle between Thebes and Orchomenus, Heracles defeated Erginus with his own hands and was rewarded with the hand of Megara, with whom he had several children. Heracles killed her along with them after Hera caused him temporary insanity, which is why she had to purge her guilt from her and perform her famous twelve labors.
