Superman is a film of the superhero genre released in 1978 and directed by Richard Donner, based on the homonymous DC Comics character.
It is an international co-production made between the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Panama and the United States, and is starring an ensemble cast consisting of, among others, Marlon Brando, Gene Hackman, Christopher Reeve, Jeff East, Margot Kidder, Glenn Ford, Phyllis Thaxter, Jackie Cooper, Trevor Howard, Marc McClure, etc.
It shows Superman's origin, from his childhood as Kal-El on Krypton and his younger years in the rural town of Smallville. Under the identity of the reporter Clark Kent, he settles in the city of Metropolis and falls in love with Lois Lane, while facing the evil Lex Luthor.
